[Two-wheeled freedom]

Humans have always wanted to be independent; explorers of other lands; adventurers of life seeking freedom for their spirit…

When I was 15, all I wanted was to grow up so I could be free to do whatever I wanted to. When I was 18, all I wanted was to have my driving license so I could go anywhere I wanted with my car. When I was in University, all I wanted was to finish my studies so I could be free to work and earn money to spend as I wanted to. Now as I’m growing up, all I want is to be creative and enjoy small intervals of freedom. And that’s enough for me…

After having a baby, it is difficult to accept that life from now has to do with two people and not just myself- so there isn’t much freedom left, right? Wrong!!! Freedom is often placed in hidden places and all it needs is the effort to find it; it is not easy but with curiosity and confidence, you can achieve just about anything. So let’s get back to the topic for today: freedom…

Freedom on two wheels is one of the most thrilling moments you get to experience in life. All the adrenalin rush and the elements of danger are instinctively connected with “freedom” in our minds. A classic one, a supersport bike, an enduro or even a scooter of 50cc completely changes our mood and holds promises of wild adventures and unknown destinations. On a sunny day, especially in Cyprus with 300 days of sunshine, it’s a blessing to ride your motorbike. With friends or even alone, the feeling of riding a bike is unique. All motorbike lovers will admit that riding their bike is the best medicine for life problems.

Riding a Motorbike needs a lot of concentration so that helps to shut down that little voice in your head that constantly analyses all the negative stuff in your life. Whether it’s the scenery, the wind on your face or just the speed, it’s easier to let things go and get on with life when you ride a motorbike. You simply enjoy the moment! You have the freedom to go whenever & wherever you want to and get lost from the world.

As long as you have the right apparel to keep you safe, riding a motorcycle is a pleasure of life to be enjoyed daily, whether you choose it as a means of transportation to work or as a short ride to the sea or to the mountains. J.L. Motorace in Nicosia provides all the apparel, accessories and parts you may need for your motorbike. Just visit their store and the friendly staff there will help you find exactly what you need at the best prices- make sure you meet Demetra (the most helpful lady ever) and the cool owner of the shop- Jack Lambrou! They even organize track days in Achna Speedway once a month and you can take the opportunity to drive your ‘baby’ just like Valentino Rossi does!

For all those who love motorbikes but are too afraid to try riding them, I have a suggestion! Go and find a teacher, who will show you the right way into safe driving. The beginning is always the hardest; I got my first license on a scooter (125cc) and then my instructor convinced me to try a YAMAHA Fazer (600cc). As a woman, our society does not support us in doing anything that is men-related so, in the beginning, I thought I wouldn’t make it! After a couple of lessons, I proved to myself I could ride a bigger bike! I had my full license after 3 months and for that, I’m grateful to Mr. Christakis, for believing in me and having the patience to teach me! I’m positive that Mr.Christakis can teach you to ride just about anything!

Another suggestion is to try off-road riding!!! From my experience, moto lover Nikolas Lofitis from Sayious Adventure Park is probably one of the best teachers in Cyprus when it comes to off-road experiences with enduro or trial bikes! Me and one of my best friends, Alicja, recently had a lesson with him and he was an inspiring example of what moto lovers should be in Cyprus. With respect to everyone, with safety in mind first and with a true love of a sport that is unfortunately not so well-known to us yet. He taught us to become one with the bike and trust the machine and our capabilities! To ride fearless and enjoy it! And so we did! I must admit, it was the best ride ever! Nikolas and his brother Kakos together with their father Andreas Lofitisa historical Enduro& Trials Champion of 80’s– are firm lovers of the sport and promote it through events and festivals they organize.

Find them on social media and let them lure you to the most fascinating experiences! | Website: http://www.sayiousadventurepark.com/ | Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SayiousAdventurePark | Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sayiousadventurepark/  | | Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_4doHhV-dseTW2MxwbuR_w/videos |  |Vimeohttps://vimeo.com/sayiousadventurepark/ |

I believe we have a long way to go to establish motorbike riding as a sport in the most correct way here in Cyprus but it will be a hard road, beautifully driven… With the sense of freedom that everyone seeks…

Gear up, wear your crowns and drive carefully…

Enjoy the ride, my friends!
