I am a sports fan and always hated the gym. So I could always rely on volleyball sessions to exercise and tone my body. For the past years I felt healthy and strong. But since I started working my routine changed. Everyday I wake up, feed the baby, tidy a bit the house and go to work. By the time I get back, I have to cook and clean, play with my baby and get some rest. This routine made me feel there was no space for exercise anymore. Last month I was having a chat with my sister who is studying Sports and Exercise Science in UK. She suggested that even 20 minutes of workout everyday was enough to keep me back in track. So I followed her advice and at the same day at midnight I started exercising. The result: Now I feel more energetic, satisfied with myself and I promise this will be my routine from now on. Get your workout info from my sister, Pantelina Charalambous, in her interview below:
Q: What 3 exercises you like to do at home?
A: Sit-ups and crunches are my favorite. You don’t need much space and neither much time. I also like squats as is a really good exercise for your butt and boys like that ;p.. I usually do them while I’m cooking.. Another really good exercise which trains legs, arms and abs is a plank. A one minute plank is gonna make you feel every single muscle pumped. I also do the wall-sit challenge, which is hard if you think about your body which is shaking, but try to think something else or read a paper while you are doing it.
Q: What are your favorite clothes at gym?
A: Favorite clothes? Hmm… I don’t have a specific outfit that is my favorite. I mostly like to wear leggings and a bodycon top. It depends on my mood and the weather on what colors I choose. If its winter I prefer wearing black or grey leggings and if its summer I prefer colorful shorts.
Q: What do you like most on your body?
A: Right now, as I recently finished a challenge I like my abs and my legs. All those years of hard working, dance and exercising, are paid off. I can finally see my abs (still need work though) and my legs are trained enough to be as strong and as shaped as I want them to be.
Q: How do you keep yourself motivated?
A: If I was gonna choose between uni work and exercise I would definitely choose exercise. I always start my day with exercise. It makes me feel more energized, ready for the day and smiley. A tip for everyone: It’s gonna be hard, but hard doesn’t mean impossible. It’s not necessary to go to the gym. If you don’t have time just do a 20 minute workout in your room. No pain, no gain. And take care of your body! It’s the only place you have to live in…
